It's the beginning of the school year, and the kickoff to all things awesome Downtown!  With live music, festivals and new events, there's sure to be something for everyone!
On September 12, enjoy our new 2nd Saturday Pop Up Art Market, featuring local artists showcasing their works; a perfect stroll from the Farmers' Market that continues to run every Saturday from 8am to noon!  Beginning September 24, enjoy the magic of FallFest -- complete with a parade, rides, live music, food and more!  On Friday, September 25, shop and dine 'til Midnightor later with Downtown's Midnight Madness, where shops and restaurants offer great food specials, live entertainment, horse-drawn carriage rides and more!

This annual favorite showcases the artistic talents of the Carroll County Arts Council's members. Featuring a wide range of styles and mediums including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, and fine crafts, these works will be on view in the Arts Center's Tevis Gallery, Community Gallery, and Director's Hall Gallery.  Most works are for sale.

The very first Maryland Wine Festival was held in 1984 at the Shriver Homestead in Union Mills with approximately 4,500 to 5,000 visitors. Having outgrown the location, the Maryland Wine Festival® moved to the Carroll County Farm Museum, and became a two-day affair. Through those 29 years, visitor population has grown to over 20,000 visitors.
  
From the initial year, the festival went from eight wineries to now hosting over 40 Maryland Winery Association's member wineries.
  
General admission: $30, must be 21 or over.
Ages 13 -20 and Designated Drivers at a discounted rate.
Ages 12 and under free with paying adult. 
  
Shuttle Service is available and encouraged.

The Downtown Westminster Farmers' Market is the oldest "Producer Only," open air, seasonal farmers market operating in Carroll County. The Market is located on the Conaway Parking Lot off Railroad Avenue (MD27).

On April 21, 1865, the train carrying the body of murdered president Abraham Lincoln left Washington on a 1,600 mile journey to Springfield, Illinois. The train passed through 444 communities in seven states before reaching its destination.
  
Civil War historian Dan Toomey follows the train's journey and examines the public funerals that were held in major cities along the way.
