Peggy Bair and Lori Graham recognized at Westminster Common Council meeting

Monday, February 12, 2018

Two longstanding Westminster Planning Commissioners were recognized at Monday night’s meeting of the Westminster Common Council.

Mayor Joe Dominick presented each with a token of appreciation for their years of service. In a recent surprise development, neither were reappointed to continue serving on the board.

Bair had served since 1989 and I appointed Graham in 2004.

I wanted to go to the meeting and pay my respects to these two great Westminster citizens who have given of their time so selflessly for the benefit of the greater community. Both individuals took time away from their families to contribute to Westminster and Carroll County and we owe them a huge debt of gratitude. - Kevin Dayhoff

The illuminated ball will descend from approximately the 8th floor of the casino resort atrium to its final spot hovering 35 feet above the Cypress Swamp.

Elvis made an appearance in Westminster recently

Elvis made an appearance in Westminster recently

Recently Westminster has been all-abuzz with the Raven’s summer training camp being held at McDaniel College; however the event that was missed by most folks, including crackerjack Carroll County Times reporters Adam Bednar and Marc Shapiro, was the appearance of Elvis in town.

I kid you not.

On Thursday evening on July 29, Elvis made an appearance at Jiffy Mart in downtown Westminster at the corner of Main and Carroll Street.

The event was witnessed by Lori Graham, Westminster police officer Michael Beaumont, the recipient of the Chief's Challenge Award from Westminster police chief Jeff Spaulding, for top total law enforcement on March 16, 2009 at an awards ceremony at McDaniel College's Decker Center; and Westminster police officer Steve Blackwell.

It is not known at this time if Graham had blue suede shoes on at the time she snapped this picture.

There are those who do not believe that Elvis is alive, but for Lori, Steve, Mike and I – we believe.
