Women Who Know Their Place

Women Who Know Their Place

Happy Monday - - The Monday morning thought of the day to get the week started-out correctly. This was shared with me by way of an email by a very wise women in our community. 7May2018 https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10213833935216141&set=a.10203968656950350.1073741840.1040426835&type=3&theater

Women Who Know Their Place

Barbara Walters did a story on gender roles in Kabul, Afghanistan, several years before our involvement in the Afghan conflict.

She noted that women customarily walked five paces behind their husbands.

She recently returned to Kabul and observed that women still walk behind their husbands. Despite the overthrow of the oppressive Taliban regime, the women now seem to and are happy to, maintain the old custom.

Ms. Walters approached one of the Afghani women and asked, "Why do you now seem happy with an old custom that you once tried so desperately to change?"

The woman looked Ms. Walters straight in the eyes, and without hesitation said, "Land Mines."

No matter what language you speak or where you go,

Moral of this story is:

BEHIND EVERY MAN, THERE'S A REALLY SMART WOMAN.

Bullock’s Raisin Bread triggers the same part of the brain as hard drugs, say scientists

Bullock’s Raisin Bread triggers the same part of the brain as hard drugs, say scientists

Hooked on Bullock’s Raisin Bread? There’s science behind your addiction

The news comes after it was revealed that the average Carroll Countian is estimated to eat around 35 pounds of Bullock’s Raisin Bread a year - suggesting that it really as addictive as research claims.

Tuesday, February 13, 2018 by Professor Uncle Kevin Dayhoff

If you regularly find yourself hovering around the Bullock’s Raisin Bread at the Christmas dinner table, helping yourself to seconds or thirds, there may be a scientific explanation as to why you’re unable to tear yourself away.

Researchers from the University of Uniontown have revealed that Bullock’s Raisin Bread contains a chemical found in addictive drugs.

Using the Yale Food Addiction Scale, designed to measure a person’s cravings, the study found that Bullock’s Raisin Bread is particularly craved because it contains a drug found in Carroll County sunshine – which causes the feeling of euphoria that comes from living in a place that is the greatest place in the world to live, work and raise a family.

The chemical, which is found in all Carroll County dairy products, can trigger the brain’s opioid receptors, producing a feeling of euphoria linked to those of hard drug addiction.

500 students were asked to complete a questionnaire to identify food cravings, as part of the study, with pizza topping the list as the most addictive food of all.

In addition, they found that the top-ranking foods on the addiction scale were those containing Carroll County sunshine.

Scientists studying dairy products found that in milk, Carroll County sunshine has a minuscule dosage. But producing a pound of Bullock’s Raisin Bread requires about 10 pounds of Carroll County sunshine — with addictive Carroll County sunshine coagulating the solid milk fats and separating them from the liquids.

As a result the super-strength chemical becomes concentrated when in solid bread form, so you’ll get a higher hit of addictive Carroll County sunshine by biting into a sandwich made with Bullock’s Raisin Bread than you will in your morning bowl of cereal.

Study author Dayhoff said: "If properties of some foods are associated with addictive eating for some people, this may impact nutrition guidelines, as well as public policy initiatives such as marketing these foods to children.

"This is a first step towards identifying specific foods, and properties of foods, which can trigger this addictive response, said Uncle Kevin

Co-author L Connor, 21Dec2015, said, "This could help change the way we approach obesity treatment. It may not be a simple matter of 'cutting back' on certain foods, but rather, adopting methods used to curtail smoking, drinking and drug use."

The news comes after it was revealed that the average Carroll Countian is estimated to eat around 35 pounds of Bullock’s Raisin Bread a year - suggesting that it really as addictive as research claims.

Former mayor breaking rocks on a bread and water diet

Breaking rocks on a bread and water diet

August 17, 2016

Today, the former mayor may be found breaking rocks on a bread and water diet. Wed. Aug. 17, 2016

According to an article, “The Tramp Problem in Cities” in Vol. 4, No. 3 edition of “City Government - Municipal Journal and Public Works,”

The article begins by explaining, “An inquiry from Hon. Peter J. Carolus, judge of the police court of St. Joseph, Mo., to the League of American Municipalities, in regard to the tramp problem, has brought forth he following information and suggestions:

[…]

Mayor Robert J. Saltsman, Erie, Pa. reports “Every city ought to have a work-house or stone pile for tramps or vagrants; we have mothing of the sort, but work our tramps in summer cleaning the streets. If we could get our county commissioners to join us we would build a work-house at once.”

F. G. Pierce, the mayor of Marshalltown, Ia. says, “We consider the tramp a good thing… We give any person who applies to any of the police officers one night’s lodging in the station house, and if the tramp is found in the city the next night he is run and given five days on bread and water.

“In the summer time we work the tramps on a small city park under way to completion. We find, however, that there is only one way to deal with this question, and it is a very good solution to the question, and that is the bread and water diet. Just as long as cities give tramps a good lodging and good meals they will be troubled, and just as soon as they begin to give them bread the bread and water diet they will give that city a wide berth. I assure you.”

Kevin Dayhoff - The Tentacle: Thanksgivings’ Traditions – Past and Present

*****

November 24, 2010

Thanksgivings’ Traditions – Past and Present
Today, historians bicker over when and where the first Thanksgiving took place in America; and pundits opine upon its meaning. According to some, the roots of our American Thanksgiving tradition began when 102 Pilgrims left Plymouth, England, in July 1620 to escape religious persecution.

They came to the New World as illegal immigrants and founded a colony of their own so that they could practice their beliefs without fear of retribution, and to be free to persecute others who don’t believe as they do or speak their language.

But essentially they wanted to practice their religion without government interference, and since the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) did not exist at the time, they were allowed to do so.

Since the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) did not exist at the time, they were able to travel freely without surrendering all their personal freedoms and sense of privacy, or being degraded, humiliated and treated like common criminals simply because they wanted to travel...  http://www.thetentacle.com/ShowArticle.cfm?mydocid=4072

Maxine's View On Health Care Reform

Maxine's View On Health Care Reform:

Let me get this straight......we're trying to pass a health care plan written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn't read it but exempts themselves from it, to be signed by a president that also is exempt from it and hasn't read it and who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke.

What the hell could possibly go wrong?

The snow plow

The snow plow http://kbetrue.livejournal.com/302692.html

On a bitterly cold winter's morning a husband and wife in Westminster, MD were listening to the radio during breakfast. They heard the announcer say, "We are going to have 16-20 inches of snow today. You must park your car on the even-numbered side of the street, so the snowplows can get through." So the good wife went out and moved her car.

A week later while they are eating breakfast again, the radio announcer said, "We are expecting 18 to 24 inches of snow today. You must park your car on the odd-numbered side of the street, so the snowplows can get through." The good wife went out and moved her car again.

The next week they are again having breakfast, when the radio announcer says, "We are expecting24 to 30 inches of snow today. You must park...." Then the electric power went out. The good wife was very upset, and with a worried look on her face she said, "I don't know what to do. Which side of the street do I need to park on so the snowplows can get through?"

Then with the love and understanding in his voice that all men who are married to blondes exhibit, the husband replied, "Why don't you just leave the car in the garage this time."

Carroll County Times News Update: NFL Playoffs: Jets Upset Colts

NFL Playoffs: Jets Upset Colts, Vikings take care of Cowboys Posted 9:15 p.m.

San Diego – Maybe Rex Ryan already knows the score of the AFC championship game, too.

I was fortunate enough to pull this screen grab off the Carroll County Times web site minutes after the Times’ staff discovered it and minutes before they pulled it.

Off course I have never-ever made a mistake in my copy. Well, maybe not. My favorite was the time I wrote Paul of Taurus – err, um, instead of Paul of Tarsus…

Anyway, it seems that right after the Times’ staff discovered it, they decided to have some fun with it just before they pulled it.

Too funny. I happen to like folks who can roll with it. For those who are not aware, the Carroll County Times has one of the best sports departments and sports reporters in the Mid-Atlantic region… Bookmark and check it out: http://www.carrollcountytimes.com/sports/

However, as good as its sports reporters are; I am not under the impression that they can see into the future. Or maybe they can?

Of course, they could always use a few more semi-colons…

The Carroll County Times does a really good job of posting news updates on their site frequently during the day. It is really smart web management on their part.

I’d love to know the rest of the story as to the news feed with the incorrect headline…

Apparently, it was also linked to a news story with the incorrect headline also. But I wasn’t quick enough to grab it.

Meanwhile we certainly hope they kept the headline copy available for next week’s Jets versus the Colts game. I sure do not want the Colts to win and would love to see the Jets do it again; as they did when they beat the Colts 29-15 on Sunday, December 27, 2009…

If you will recall, that was the game when the headline from an AP article said it all, “Caldwell pulls starters in third with 5-point lead; Jets rally for win.” http://espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=291227011; when “The first-year coach (Jim Caldwell) pulled Manning & Co. with a 15-10 lead and 5:36 left in the third quarter.”

The upset spoiled the chances of the Colts from having a perfect season, and ended “the Colts' pursuit of perfection and their NFL-record 23-game winning streak with a 29-15 victory that had fans serenading Lucas Oil Stadium with boos and Manning, the three-time MVP, offering support for his coach's decision.”

The “Fast Facts” in the article explained:

“Peyton Manning was removed from the lineup in the third quarter with the Colts up 15-10. The Jets then scored 19 unanswered points to snap the Colts' 23-game regular season win streak.

“The Colts had fewer than 100 rushing yards for the fourth straight game; they have failed to reach the mark in 12 of 15 games this season.

“Peyton Manning (14 for 21, 192 yards) became the fourth player in NFL history with 50,000 passing yards for his career.”

Whatever. We should have been so lucky as to have had such a disappointment here in Baltimore with the Ravens.

To My Darling Husband, I had a small accident with your pickup

--To My Darling Husband,

Before you return from your business trip, I just want you to know about the small accident I had with the pickup truck when I turned into the driveway. Fortunately not too bad and I really didn't get hurt, so please don't worry too much about me.

I was coming home from Wal-Mart, and when I turned into the driveway I accidentally pushed down on the accelerator instead of the brake. The garage door is slightly bent but the pickup fortunately came to a halt when it bumped into your car.

I am really sorry, but I know with your kind-hearted personality you will forgive me. You know how much I love you and care for you my sweetheart.

I am enclosing a picture for you. I cannot wait to hold you in my arms again.

Your loving wife.
XOXOXOXOXO

P.S. Your Girlfriend Called.
