Runners Race Pacing Chart

Runner's world race pacing chart... Even pacing maximizes running efficiently...

I found this recently in some very old racing files. I thought that perhaps some others might benefit from it. Happy running...

BREAKING: You Should Train Before Running a Marathon | Runner's World

BREAKING: You Should Train Before Running a Marathon | Runner's World: "An expert says it is not advisable to run 26.2 miles without preparation.
By Mark Remy (Google+)
Published
November 6, 2013"

Readers, I hope you're sitting down. If you aren't, please do so. I'll give you all some extra time, since I know many of you recently ran a long race.
Good? Good. Here, then, is today's bit of running advice:
If you intend to run a marathon, you should train for it first.
Sorry if I just blew your mind. And I apologize to Remy's World readers whocould have used this information before Sunday's New York City Marathon.
Anyway, this news comes to us via Fox News's Fox & Friends, which aired a segment Saturday titled "Busting Marathon Myths." In it, cohosts Tucker Carlson and Clayton Morris lob assertions over a glass-top table toward a guy called Dr. Marc Siegel ("MEDICAL A-TEAM"), who proceeds to bat down the ones that are bunk and affirm the ones that are not. Also there's a recurring joke about Snickers bars.
Halfway through, we get to the bit where Mr. Morris asks, with an innocence that's endearing to watch, whether it's really necessary to, you know, actually prepare for a 26.2-mile footrace:

TheTentacle.com: Tragedy Strikes at Heart of America http://www.thetentacle.com/ShowArticle.cfm?mydocid=5730 Kevin E. Dayhoff

Tragedy Strikes at Heart of America http://www.thetentacle.com/ShowArticle.cfm?mydocid=5730 Kevin E. Dayhoff April 17, 2013

The cheers of joy and excitement quickly turned to screams of terror on Monday at 2:50 in the afternoon when an act of senseless horror shattered the 117th running of the Boston Marathon, arguable the world’s oldest and most prestigious endurance foot race.

The marathon is traditionally held on Patriots Day in Boston and the holiday had blossomed into a beautiful spring day. The Massachusetts state holiday “commemorates the first battles of the American Revolution in 1775.”

The Boston Marathon brings-out approximately 500,000 spectators and visitors to the city for what can be described as Christmas and New Year’s Eve all rolled into one.

The bombs shattered the celebrations of the runners, families, and spectators- and once again, shook us to our core. The heinous act served as an unwelcome reminder that no one is safe anywhere in a world where senseless acts of violence are perpetrated upon the innocent to promote a political or ideological agenda… http://www.thetentacle.com/ShowArticle.cfm?mydocid=5730

Great race wrap-up and commentary by Lance P. Martin :

Great Moments in Marathon History: Kiawah Island 2008 Sunday, December 07, 2008

Kiawah Island is a runner's marathon. At 2,000 or so, it's neither too big or too small. Pre-race could not be easier. They open the East Beach Conference Center and runners lounge in the halls and meeting rooms until the start, which is right outside the front doors. Article storage is self-serve, you just put your name on your bag and toss it into an unsupervised tent. This is awfully easy for runners, and I doubt that theft is an issue.
