Paramedic Michael Bryant Golden, Jr., 32, died suddenly on September 2, 2015

Michael Bryant Golden, Jr. November 3, 1982 - September 2, 2015

Obituary for Michael Bryant Golden, Jr.

Michael Bryant Golden, Jr., 32, of York, PA, died suddenly on September 2, 2015 as the result of a motor vehicle accident outside of Lineboro.

Born November 3, 1982 in Baltimore, he was the son of Michael B. Golden, Sr. and wife Tonni of Westminster and Denise Lee Woods Kelly and husband Peter of York, PA. He is survived by Amy Golden, the mother of his child Mikayla Anne Golden and step-daughter Caroline Hake, all of York.

Michael was a Paramedic for Anne Arundel County Fire Department, Station 31, in Brooklyn Park, working on D Shift. He was a 2000 graduate of Westminster High School.

He was a best friend, side kick, and the little Mike to the big Mike. He was a confidant and friend to so many. He loved loud country music and big pick-up trucks. When he wasn't saving lives in Brooklyn (with his team of superheroes), you could find him in the gym lifting weights, out in a field getting muddy, or out with his friends singing bad karaoke. He loved as big as he laughed. His heart belonged to his daughter, Mikayla and in her eyes he will always be Superman. He loved his friends and his family, and truly had a passion for medicine. His professional life was devoted to the fire department and he was recently awarded Paramedic of the Year. He is now with his Superman (Pop-Pop) and dancing with Mom-Mom in Heaven.

Also surviving in addition to his parents is his soulmate Julia Troy of York; siblings Kaitlyn Akers (Andrew) and Kory Trudo (Katie); grandparents Susan Woods, William Woods (Deborah), Paul Custer (Marie); nieces and nephews Gunner & Sydney Akers and Kamdyn & Harper Trudo; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by grandparents Bernie and Anne Golden.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday at 3 pm at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster. Officiating will be Rev. Joel Coleman. Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends at the Church from 2 pm until start of services.

In lieu of flowers, the family will accept donations to a Go Fund Me Page (Wounded Warriors Project or Best Buddies Maryland or Breast Cancer Research) that will be set up. Please see the Michael Golden, Jr. Memorial Page set up on Facebook.

Cremation arrangements by Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster.

FIRE DEPARTMENT PARAMEDIC KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY-UNUSUAL STRUCK BY APPARATUS AT SCENE

Tuesday, January 6, 2015 - We regret to pass on to you some tragic news from Maryland. At 1350 hrs TODAY (16/6.2015) the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company (Harford Co, MD) was alerted for a motor vehicle collision with injury on Patterson Mill Rd.

It was reported that a vehicle had run off the roadway into an embankment and the injured subject was in a nearby residence. On the fire departments arrival it was determined that the best access to the patient was via four wheel drive assist due to the extreme weather and driveway conditions. Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company Utility 373, a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD equipped with a snow plow responded for the four wheel drive request.

As the utility vehicle proceeded down the driveway it began to slide. At some point during the slide, a member of the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company, a paramedic provider, was struck by the utility. He was treated at the scene and transported in grave condition to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries. Indications point to weather being a major factor in this incident. More to follow. Our condolences to all affected. RIP.
