He was the original owner of Stem’s Printing, which he started in 1976. He was a veteran of the Army, member of Grace Lutheran Church

Charles William Stem, 87, of Westminster, died Thursday, July 2, 2015, at Lorien in Taneytown.  Born January 8, 1928 in Westminster, he was the son of the late Anna B. Lang Stem and Clarence A. “Buck” Stem.  He was the husband of 60 years of the late Martha V. Stem.

He was the original owner of Stem’s Printing, which he started in 1976.  He was a veteran of the Army, member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Westminster Moose Lodge No. 1381. 

He entertained crowds playing country music in the band “Country Edition” and played as a guitarist and vocalist in the band “Texas" Jim and The Stump Jumpers for many years.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, movies, country music, jokes, baseball, football, NASCAR and puzzle books. He read his Bible daily.

He is survived by a son Dennis E. Stem of Westminster and companion Theresa Kerrick, grandsons William, Michael, Patrick, and Phillip Stem, great-grandchildren, Amandah, Kayla, Garrett, Austin and Griffin Stem.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Clementson, of Grace Lutheran Church officiating.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens with military honors.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 21 Carroll St., Westminster, MD 21157.
