American Legion member Kenneth Levi Colson, 84


Kenneth Levi Colson, age 84, of Westminster, MD, died on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Carroll County Hospital in Westminster, MD. 

He was the husband of Carolyn J. Colson (nee Fava). He was born January 10, 1938, in Watersville, MD, the son of the late Arthur W. Colson and the late Madeline Colson (nee Davis). 

Kenneth served in the US Army, Parachutist; Quartermaster -Rigger, from 1960-1962; He was a Member of the American Legion Post #31 in Westminster, 

He was a diesel mechanic at Penske Truck Leasing and enjoyed Penske racing, enjoyed flea marketing and Fishing, and enjoyed his family and eating crabs; and loved his dog Molly. 

He was the father of Shelley Ostrum and husband Ray and daughter Alisha Lauritzen and the late Kelley Colson and Steven W. Colson (died on 1/8/22); also survived by 5 grandchildren and one great grandchild; brother of Robert Colson and wife Jane, Arthur Jerry Colson and wife Penny, Janet Moore and husband Mac, Shirley Loveless, Cathy Tracy and the late George Lowery; and late stepfather Percy Lowery. 

Gathering of family and friends for both Kenneth and his son Steven will be held together on Friday, January 21, 2022, from 3:00-5:00 PM, at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Sykesville, MD 21784 (beside South Carroll High School).

Steven Colson Obituary (1964 - 2022) - Winfield, MD - Carroll County Times
Steven Wayne Colson, age 57, of Westminster, died Saturday, January 8, 2022, at his home.

He was born July 19, 1964, in Olney, Maryland, the son of father Kenneth Colson and wife Carolyn of Westminster, and mother Barbara Keller (nee Combs) formerly of Taneytown, and her husband the late John Keller. 

Steve grew up with a love of motocross and playing guitar. He was an exceptional guitar player and musician. He played for several different bands in the 80's, such as Life or Death and A.K.A. Jeff and Steve. He was proud to have played places, such as Hammerjacks and played at the Preakness in 1991. He later started giving guitar lessons out of his home. He was very good with teaching kids. 

Steve was a compassionate person with a soft heart. He loved animals, especially cats. He was very close with his family and spoke to his parents every day. Steve will be terribly missed by his family and friends. His beautiful smile and his beautiful eyes will never be forgotten. Steve would want everyone to ROCK on! 

Surviving in addition to his parents are his sister Shelley Ostrum and husband Ray and sister Alisha Laritzen; predeceased by sister Kelley Colson; also survived by three nephews; one great nephew and two nieces; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and Longtime friend Kim Jenkins.
