Found this well deserved shout out to recognize the great work of the Westminster Police

Found this well deserved shout out to recognize the great work of the Westminster Police Dept.

Every week I hear great stories about the work of the local public safety agencies; the Westminster Police, and the local Manchester, Taneytown, and Sykesville police departments, the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, the Md State Police, the Westminster Vol. Fire Dept. and all the local volunteer fire departments.

We are very fortunate to work with such great men and women in Carroll County. We should not take them for granted.

Uncle Kevin and Linus, the cattle dog, are having a quiet conversation about Brown Swiss versus Jersey versus Holstein. According to Linus, "Brown Swiss and Holstein are two of the best known cattle breeds in the world. ... Holstein and Brown Swiss actually came from Europe. Originating in the Netherlands, the Holstein cow is the best cow in terms of dairy or milk production..."

It is a fascinating store that manufactures and sell woodworking products; much of which is of a patriotic, agricultural, arts and crafty, and religious theme.

The customers are predominantly Mennonite and some Amish - complete with horse and buggies outside. Another great bonus is that the clientele actually dresses appropriately to be out in public. And folks are respectful and polite. Just saying.

It is a really neat store. Almost like an art gallery... Perfect place to visit for someone who maintained his woodworking workshop and radial arm saw in the living room for fifteen years.

Yesterday we picked-up our Thanksgiving turkey. Wed. Nov. 23, 2016

Yesterday we picked-up our Thanksgiving turkey. Too funny - it says that it was "vegetarian fed." I, for one, am glad that we did not purchase a predator carnivorous  blood-thirsty killer turkey.

It also says that it was a "free-range" turkey. Whenever I think of free-range chickens and turkeys, I think of the June 19, 1967 classic movie, "King of Hearts."

According to one media source, "This quirky comedic war film focuses on Scottish soldier Charles Plumpick (Alan Bates), who is sent to a French town on a mission to disarm a bomb left behind by the retreating German army. Plumpick discovers that the area is deserted except for the inmates of the local asylum.

The mental patients playfully take over the town and pronounce the soldier their king. While Plumpick is intrigued by the antics of the former inmates, he must stay on task and find the bomb before it detonates..."

Hats off to Hannah Brewer. Ms. Brewer, in her role as Miss Maryland, has done an incredbly great job of representing Carroll County and Maryland. We are so proud of her.

According to this well-written article by awesome Carroll County Times writer, Jacob deNobel, in addition to "her duties as Miss Maryland, the holiday season provides Hannah Brewer with another series of tasks.  The nonprofit she runs, Hannah's Heroes, increases production of holiday cards, gifts and care packages to be sent to military members overseas..."

Hannah Brewer attended and made a great presentation for a meeting of the Maryland Troopers Association Lodge # 20. We were quite impressed with her poise, presence and enthusiasm

Domestic disturbance results in assault by shooting in Westminster https://kevindayhoffwestgov-net.blogspot.com/2016/11/shooting-reported-in-westminster.html

According to information released by the Westminster Police Department:

On Friday November 11, 2016 at approximately 9:23 PM the Westminster Police was dispatched to the unit block of Carroll View Ave in Westminster for domestic disturbance at a private residence.

Upon arrival in the area police officers located a 31 year old male identified as Angelo Johnson laying on the parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds to his back and right leg.

EMS was summoned to the scene and the victim was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore for treatment.

Investigation at the scene determined that Johnson cohabitates with a husband and wife in a townhouse on the unit block of Carroll View Ave.

A domestic argument erupted between the husband and wife. Johnson attempted to intervene and became involved in an altercation with the husband. Johnson was asked to leave the house, which he complied. Once outside the residence Johnson began to flatten the tires of the suspect’s automobile.

The suspect, identified as Dustin A Forson (37) discharged two (2) rounds from a 12 gauge shotgun out a second floor window of the residence at Johnson, striking him in the back and right leg with pellets from the shotgun rounds. Johnson was treated at the scene and transported by EMS. Johnson is in stable condition at Shock Trauma.

The suspect Forson was taken into custody and transported to the Westminster Police Department for questioning.

While in custody Forson complained of pain from a preexisting condition. Forson was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Forson will be charged criminally with assault in the first and second degree along with Reckless Endangerment upon his release from the hospital.

Citizens who may have witnessed this incident or who have information are asked to contact Det. Todd Rutledge, Westminster Police Department Criminal Investigations Bureau at (410) 8484646, or send a confidential text to 847411, keyword TIPWPD or contact the TIPS line at (410) 8578477.
